Hmmmm, what can I say about Tahiti? It's a beautiful island, and the people are really very friendly, but there's not much to do. You seem to come here to lounge by the pool, eat, and drink for two weeks. That's not my idea of fun, but I had to get to Tahiti to get to Easter Island.
Tahiti is also very expensive, I changed my remaining NZ Dollars into Francs at Auckland airport, thinking that I should be able to survive on that for the few hours I was on the island. How wrong I was, most of the cash was taken by the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. I checked with the receptionist, and she said that I'd got a very good deal from the taxi driver!
I fear that I'm painting a bleak picture of the island, but bear in mind that I like a bit of adventure when I go on holiday, I don't hang around. Also I only had a day on Tahiti, there are other islands to explore. I guess if you want to chill out, then Tahiti could be for you - just check you get an all inclusive deal!
