I spent three nights in Bangkok in April 2004, at that time of year the weather is hot, and rather humid - and I don't really do hot very well. I managed to survive by going out early, returning to my hotel during the hottest part of the day, and then going out again the evening.
On the river there is Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) with a tall prang (a sort of tall spire) - from the river it's an astounding sight, but up close it's even more so. The prang is decorated with tiny pieces of glazed pottery which are pushed into place in the wet plaster.
